Celebrate Your Heritage With A Legacy

Through a planned or estate gift to the Museum, you can help provide crucial funds for the Museum, securing our institution and its programs, while receiving a tax deduction that will benefit you and your loved ones. There are many ways to include the Museum in your charitable giving and estate planning - through a bequest in your will, by creating lifetime income opportunities for you and your family, or by naming the Museum as a beneficiary of funds from any of your retirement plans.

The Pension Protection Act of 2006, which was signed on August 17, 2006, makes some noteworthy provisions for charitable giving. The law permits those over age 70½ to donate up to $100,000 per year in retirement plan assets to a charity without paying income tax, while satisfying requirements for minimum annual distributions. These IRA charitable rollovers will only be allowed through 2007. This is a unique opportunity to make a donation to the Museum while saving on income tax. As always, you should consult with a tax specialist to confirm that you are qualified to benefit from this provision.

A member of the Museum staff will be pleased to meet with you to explain how this type of gift can work for you. There is no charge for this confidential consultation. For more information, please call Felica Kobylanski at 646.437.4302 or fkobylanski@mjhnyc.org
